1860 Munich Rescues A Point In Goalkeeper Glöckner's Debut
Sandro Wagner scored a late equaliser as 1860 Munich rescued a point in goalkeeper Marco Glöckner's debut.
The hosts fell behind after only five minutes when Terrence Boyd fired home for Kaiserslautern, but 1860 battled back and Wagner's 81st-minute goal earned them a share of the spoils.
Glöckner Impresses on Debut
With regular goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly injured, Glöckner was handed his debut for 1860 and the 21-year-old impressed with a string of fine saves.
He denied Boyd a second goal with a brilliant one-handed stop in the first half and also made a number of important saves in the second period.
Glöckner's performance earned him plaudits from his manager, Daniel Bierofka.
"Marco had a great game," Bierofka said. "He made some very important saves and gave us a chance to get back into the game."
Wagner Rescues 1860
With the clock ticking down, it looked as though 1860 were heading for defeat, but Wagner popped up with a vital equaliser.
The striker latched onto a cross from Richard Sukuta-Pasu and fired home from close range to earn his side a point.
Wagner's goal was his third of the season and it proved to be a crucial one for 1860, who moved up to 15th in the table.
Kaiserslautern Disappointed
Kaiserslautern were left disappointed not to take all three points, but coach Jeff Saibene was pleased with his team's performance.
"We played very well today," Saibene said. "We created a lot of chances and we should have won the game."
"But I'm proud of my players. They worked hard and they deserved to win."
